BNA: GCC Chief meets EU delegation

Riyadh, Feb. 11 (BNA): Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Alzayani received a delegation representing the EU Parliament Foreign Affairs Committee, led by Chairman David McAllister, currently on visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Dr. Alzayani stressed solid GCC-EU relations, affirming shared keenness on strengthening joint ties to promote common interests. He underscored the importance of the EU vital role in maintaining regional security and stability and contributing to its economic development.
The EU delegation commended the GCC regional and international role, stressing keenness on further bolstering bilateral relations. The two sides discussed GCC-EU cooperation and coordination and means of strengthening joint ties in all fields towards achieving common interests. Current political developments unfolding in the region and issues of mutual concern were also discussed. The meeting was attended by EU Ambassador to the GCC states Michele Cervone d’Urso and GCC Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs and Negotiations Dr. Abdulaziz Hamad Al-Ouwaishaq.
