The Gulf region: MEPs, experts discuss security challenges

Foreign Affairs Committee and Subcommittee on Security and Defence MEPs will organise a hearing on „Collective Security in the Gulf“, on Thursday 27 May at 09.00 CET.

At the hearing, participants will discuss, among other issues, the obstacles and concrete options on the table for achieving long-term sustainable security in the Gulf region, which has deteriorated markedly in recent years.

The event will be presided over by the Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee David McAllister (EPP, Germany) and the Chair of the Subcommittee on Security and Defence Nathalie Loiseau (Renew Europe, France).

The following experts will address the committees:

Dr Cinzia Bianco, European Council on Foreign Relations, Gulf Research Fellow;

Dr Cornelius Adebahr, Carnegie Europe, nonresident Fellow;

Dr Abdulaziz Sager, Gulf research Center, Chairman;

Commander Anders Friis of the European Maritime Awareness in the Strait of Hormuz operation (EMASOH) and its military pillar operation (AGENOR).
